Connected Cycle and Fredo have been collaborating since the summer of 2024, integrating Connected Cycle’s GPS trackers with Fredo’s bike rental system.
Thomas Randolph, 30, began his career in an insurance group before quickly turning to entrepreneurship. Convinced that shared and sustainable mobility is a key driver for decarbonizing daily travel, he founded Fredo in February 2021. His goal was to offer an alternative to major cities by adapting the bike-sharing model to mid-sized municipalities and companies looking to implement a corporate bike fleet.
Four years after its launch, Fredo is experiencing strong growth, driven by increasing demand for sustainable mobility solutions. The company serves both local governments and businesses, which are increasingly aware of the need to decarbonize transportation. Today, Fredo has over 60 clients, split between municipalities and businesses, and continues to expand its network of partners.
The collaboration with Connected Cycle began as part of a project with the Annemasse urban area (French city at the border of Geneva, Switzerland). After a trial phase, the project was made permanent in the form of a shared electric bike service. Connected Cycle contributed in two major areas:
The integration of Connected Cycle’s API into Fredo’s IT system aimed to centralize data and improve both user experience and operational management. This integration now enables:
Since the introduction of electric bikes, service usage has increased fivefold. The solution has proven effective in terms of security and fleet management:
Fredo aims to double the number of municipalities equipped—reaching over twenty—by continuing its approach of experimentation and sustainable bike-sharing service implementation. The goal is to ensure a gradual and well-managed deployment, supporting municipalities in adopting tailored solutions.
This expansion will be supported by strategic partnerships such as the one with Connected Cycle, which adds significant value in fleet management. At the same time, Fredo is enhancing its offer by integrating new services and technologies to simplify bike access and optimize maintenance.
Although growth is primarily focused on the French market, international expansion is emerging. Thanks to a software-based model and fleet management expertise, Fredo is exploring opportunities in foreign markets where interest in sustainable mobility solutions is increasing.
